The Research Office for Administration, Development and Support (ROADS) invites you to attend a Community of Science (COS) Pivot Information Session. COS is an up-to-date database of funding announcements for grants, awards and fellowships from around the world. COS provides timely, relevant and easy-to-find funding to faculty, researchers, educators and graduate students, in all disciplines.

COS Pivot combines a unique database of 3 million scholar profiles with a comprehensive database of funding opportunities from public and private-sector sources. Pivot’s purpose is to compile researcher profiles and match them to current funding opportunities and faculty, from inside or outside your institution. Pivot provides global and local connections that strengthen research by exploring new avenues for funding and collaboration for:

  • research, prizes and awards;
  • cooperative agreement;
  • equipment or materials acquisition;
  • publishing or editorial;
  • conferences, seminars and workshops (attending or organizing);
  • travel;
  • training, scholarship or fellowship;
  • curriculum development;
  • visiting personnel.

Jason High, Training Specialist for COS Pivot, will demonstrate how to:

  • access COS Pivot and create your own user account;
  • search for funding opportunities for research in any discipline;
  • claim your own scholar profile and receive recommended funding opportunities aligned to your research interests and expertise;
  • search scholar’s profiles to identify potential collaborators; and
  • track, share and create email alerts for funding opportunities.

For additional information, please contact Susan Gordon, Research Information Specialist, ROADS, at gordosc@mcmaster.ca or extension 23138.
